This was part of a exhibition project as part of my University course. This was mine and my fellow students first exhibition, a 'lead in' to the bigger exhibition in the final year.
The theme we all landed on was 'Dreams and Illusions' as it didn't really give us many boundaries in what we could create, given that when it comes to Dreams or Illusions, pretty much anything goes.

My Artist Statement: 

Dreams and Illusions in the Literal Sense  

My work is about exploring the literal sense of the theme ‘Dreams and Illusions’.  

Whilst I could have explored a more abstract or surreal type of project, I knew that I would want to depict both ideas literally. To me, Dreams are about experiencing something that just wouldn’t happen in reality, whether that be through the lens of the physically impossible, or the most unlikely circumstances.  

Illusions, in a similar vein, are about twisting what we can see into something unnatural, something strange, something out of the ordinary. You can find photos of people doing ordinary things in the real world, but some clever trickery makes it seem otherwise. 

With this project, I hope to convey what ‘Dreams and Illusions’ means to me and the fascinating ideas this theme conjures up.
