Judy Woods
October 2025
-
Judy Woods is a complex of woodlands in West Yorkshire sitting between Bradford and Halifax, named so after ‘Judy North’ who lived nearby in the 1850’s and 60’s, and who’s family had managed part of the site since the early 19th Century.
I won’t go into long detail about the history of the woods, that is something that can be done separately if you wish, but what I want to touch on briefly was the trip itself.
This is something I did on a whim, deciding to take my camera on a dog walk to a new place I’d never been to previously. Luckily, despite being October, the weather was just about perfect and the time of day meant there was a lovely warm glow throughout the woods. This is somewhere I’d recommend anyone go to, especially on a good day like this was.
I would say for this being done on a whim, I was able to take home some of my most favourite nature photos I’ve produced to-date.
