KWVR Steam Gala 2026
March 2026
-
So perhaps in keeping with my personality, this shoot is my first one of 2026, and it’s of course railway related.
Here, I’m back on the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway as it was the annual Steam Gala.
Quick explanation for those not in the know, a Steam Gala is an event held by heritage railways where there’s a small handful of full running days of just steam engines, a number being from the railway’s home fleet, but a notable chunk made up of visiting engines. It’s essentially a big shindig of steam engine paradise.
This year, visiting engines included Great Western Railway Castle Class 5029 ‘Nunney Castle’, Southern Railway Rebuilt West Country Class 34046 ‘Braunton’ and LMS Black 5 45407 ‘The Lancashire Fusilier’.
Sadly, I was only able to go on the Sunday, which was the last day, so I did miss out on some things, but even so, I think I captured a good portion of the whole event.
