Menston Imperial Works

The Imperial Works Mill in Menston, England, owned by G.L Murphy's Machinery Ltd (Established 1930) was opened in 1949 as a mill to manufacture industrial parts. The company made all manner of items ranging from tools to electrical equipment, specialising in items for tanners and leather manufacturers in addition to glue and gelatine paint.
Subsidized by the government, the company along with many other factories would produce parts for the Royal Air Force during World War Two.
The mill was finally closed and abandoned in 2002, being left to rot ever since.
This shoot simply documents my exploration of the site in early June 2023. Despite being in a very rough state, the building was fairly stable and was a delight to photograph.
