Whispers from Beyond

  • The idea I had for this was ‘A person discovers the supernatural and ghost hunting. They get excited and try it themselves, but get frustrated as they don’t get the results they expect. They disturb the spirits and the person becomes haunted by them, driving them crazy’. I’m not sure how I came up with this specific idea, but it gave me the chance to be creative in the edits and to tell a story through photos for the first time.
    This project involved the creation of a publication. I had a couple ideas on how to achieve this, but I ended up settling on making an A5 hardback book with a black leather colour. This was because I wanted to have the photos bound in a weathered leather book to fall in line with the theme of this project. The weathering didn't happen in the end, but I still think it worked out alright.

    Book opening statement:

    ‘Whispers from Beyond’ is a photo project that through a film-like style, follows the fictionalised story of a person who discovered Ghost Hunting and took an interest in it, but was unwilling to follow the known rules of Ghost Hunting and upon not receiving any response from a spirit, they would disregard these rules, upsetting the watching ghosts, who decided to pursue and return the favour.

    This sudden repeated contact would take a mental toll on them, eventually overwhelming their sanity.
